Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Very reliable and communicative. Found lender to help and provided great service and incentives to close by a certain date.

I really enjoyed AJ and [name removed]. They were the best part of my experience truly, anything or anyone else I could have done without or just handled online.

What I liked the most about my purchase experience was the overall communication. [name removed] was a wonderful human being to work with, and I can't say enough about how professional and fun she was to help guide me through the journey. Everyone was very quick to return phone calls, work to find answers to questions I had that arose, and made an honest effort to ensure that I was treated like a human being and not solely "another transaction". I liked the overall communication from Century Complete, Law Firm Carolinas, the Survey Company, and [name removed] from Inspire. This was a difference maker to me because prior to looking into Century Complete, I had spoken with competitor [name removed] and had gotten a pre-approval. I ended up deciding not to work with Lennar due to a lack of timely communication from the loan officer. The Lennar Loan Officer would take 5 or 6 days to respond to email or phone call, and they appeared to not know who was responsible for answering general questions. I had the most positive polar opposite experience with Century, and that was what impressed me with Century. What I did not love was a couple of elements of the Inspire process. Don't get me wrong. [name removed] was awesome, and I feel like he was kind of an unsung hero and MVP from the Inspire side. It really felt like he kept the loan process on target. For me, I wish I would've gotten the final approval a bit quicker as final approval came at the metaphorical 11th hour which provided a very limited window of time to review some of the later documents. [name removed], who took over from [name removed] for some of the process, missed the initial introductory call out date by about a week. Eventually, I had to reach out to [name removed] because I had not heard anything from [name removed], and [name removed] was able to get the process back on track. My loan after the conditional loan approval with [name removed], appeared to sit without being looked at by [name removed] for about 2 1/2 weeks. I say this because when she did reach out, she initially requested a number of documents that I had already submitted which made me feel as a buyer like she hadn't looked at my file over the course of 2 1/2 weeks and that they were expending some valuable process time. I felt like had [name removed] not waited 2 1/2 weeks to look in my file they wouldn't have been up against the clock asking for documents all the way until literally the time of my walkthrough with [name removed] on the 18th. I didn't get final approval until 5pm the evening before (the 19th) I was supposed to wire the money at 9am (the 20th) which was a bit too close for comfort. My walkthrough with [name removed] was fun. I enjoyed working with [name removed], and he's always responsive and helpful. [name removed] was also very fast to answer my questions and was reassuring. All-in-all, if the Inspire communication process was a bit better on [name removed]'s side ([name removed]'s side was great), it would've been even better. But, I do want to be clear that when [name removed] did communicate with me she was professional the entire time, and did thank me for being so quick to submit documents that were needed. So, perhaps she was just overwhelmed at the time and thus slow to respond early on? I want to make sure I'm also being fair to [name removed] as she was generally nice. This is just purely some mild constructive feedback if I had to give a full circle of feedback.

We were unable to choose our closing date, even though it was only a few days apart, which resulted in us having to pay for both the mortgage and the rent for our apartment, leading to unnecessary financial losses. Additionally, we were not allowed to select our own attorney, despite having legal assistance that we pay for monthly. We’ve heard that some of the sales consultants have expressed indifference towards whether we purchase the house or not, as someone else will likely purchase it. The sales consultants’ communication skills were lacking, and they failed to maintain effective contact with us, our realtor, or the lender. Throughout the entire purchase process, we felt that no one was truly working with us. I strongly advise against anyone considering purchasing a home through Century Complete.

It was a really easy process. Especially, since we used the affiliate partners for mortgage and insurance. This made it a seamless process.

[Translated from ES] I liked that everything was easy... without a lot of paperwork. And above all, I got expenses for the closing of my house 🏡 It was a very nice experience.

I love the home but not happy with my the customer service I’ve received. Did my first walkthrough and pointed out ALL issues that needed to be addressed along with the mud on the rugs etc. I was advised that on my FINAL walkthrough everything that needed to be fixed would be complete by the final walkthrough. Final walkthrough I came in and NOTHING WAS TOUCHED or addressed. I’m still waiting on the cabinets to be replaced and fixed. I closed on 12/31 and moved in officially on 1/15/25 and NOTHING was addressed of fixed. I asked the construction manager [name removed] regarding the fixes and cabinets and I’m still getting the run around I’m NOT HAPPY AT ALL I feel like I was only a commission check for everyone now that I’m here NO ONE is taking my concerns seriously anymore

Cons: After purchasing 7 homes in past 40+ years, this was the worse experience we have ever had. Information was very inconsistent from different parties. Purchase agreement forced us to give up the right to choose an attorney as allowed by NC law. Pros: We were able to visit other "like" communities close by to tour finished homes. Sales person ([name removed]) was very responsive and communicated well. Finished quality of the home was less than expected. Very poor finished product details. Lots of issues like caulking, paint (very thin coat), mud lines, final cleaning was not professional and poorly done.

I received pre-approval from multiple companies. However, I really enjoyed the loan process with inspire specifically how laid out the steps are and the communication with [name removed]. I believe [name removed] did a good job with the house but communication about delays resulted in significant stress. [name removed] and his manager tried to reduce stress by giving me updates but it was already a stressful situation. Additionally I liked how I was able to get everything from insurance to surveys with Century. Lastly, I thought the home orientation and final walkthrough went very well.

I felt like the person who was my contact with century I never heard from. I was more connected to my loan officer who communicated well. I had minimal updates and it felt like a disjointed situation. I often was fearful that this was a scam.

How easy it was to reserve the lot on line, and when I needed to speak with salesman, [name removed], he was available and answered all of my questions.
