The dishonesty, lack of consistency, poor craftsmanship, unreliable communications and expectations. We were lied to about numerous things between purchase to close. We had to fight to put steps leading from our closed off deck to our yard..completely illogical. It was very much sales-focused, and not service focused at all. Buyers are the last priority. A worker almost started a fire on the new mulch with a cigarette butt when we were visiting it while under construction. When we were doing our walk through we noted there was no coffered ceiling, and when we called this out we were told there was a spec change..no there wasn’t. We walked the other homes and they all had it. We were told it was too late to put it in after framing had completed but once our agent pushed on New Home Co., our builder came back and confirmed that “ after inspecting other surrounding homes, not covered in Sheetrock. We are able to install the coffered ceiling. I have made calls and a schedule to get this going after your homeowner walk on Thursday. All the work will be done before your re walk. I investigated deeper and discovered it was purely a miss on the framers part. Again, this will be corrected.” Regarding the steps to the yard that we had to FIGHT for, along with many other neighbors: “ The steps down to the backyard, we are waiting from corporate on how to proceed.” With regard to the negligence on the behalf of the workers and the fire ([name removed] from the main office had to call the fire department for us to put out the continually reigniting smoke from under the mulch) we received the response “The cigarette butt issue was not swept under the rug and certainly was addressed with the 2 trades that were out that Saturday. Unfortunately, what was done was done and all we can do is make it better moving forward.” We were promised that our deck was actually supposed to be concrete slab and we have the printed plan on hand to prove it. We were told the home would be identical to the model home but clearly some things were cheaped out on us. We were told on NUMEROUS occasions that no home would be built to the side of us and that it was supposed to be greenspace. We confirmed this so much so that when we told our family members and everyone and decided to purchase the home based solely on the fact that we were on the end of the hill with no home to the side of us (otherwise would have chosen lot 1), so that really sucked when we found out that was no longer the case when we noticed the mound of dirt next to our home was not going away. Also it’s helpful to make large decisions like this with knowledge that perhaps construction on a home right next to you would be happening for months. It’s the concept of dishonesty and no communication to the buyers that is not cool, very little integrity and care from behalf of New Home Co. Many sloppy finished things in the home. Our primary door frame foundational support beam started sagging (???!) and left a huge crack in our drywall. when discussing this with the right folks, we were told this was the 3rd home with this problem and that it was normal, I’ve never heard of something so foundational normalized to this degree. When hearing employees for the company discuss other homes and buyers there is a lack of professionalism in how they are referencing the issues and taking them very lightly. When we called out that our backsplash wasn’t completed properly during our blue tape walk through after already noting that in an earlier walk through - we were told that it’s just like that because of the way the tiles are stacked and that all of the homes were like that …if that’s the case why is the model home with the same upgrade perfectly aligned all the way to the top? And conveniently, I had photos of the other homes with perfectly aligned backsplash tiles. When I called this out we were taken more seriously and offered a plan to get it fixed, only affirming my suspensions that corners were being cut and that it was simply a lazy response to fix a problem that was “too small” for new home co. This happened many times with other things in the home. When Many of the buyers in this neighborhood are young first time home buyers and we saw a pretty finished product at surface level…but after many discussions with other homeowners many of them feel they were lied to in some way about the quality and foundation of their home. Vendors and contractors that would come into our home to fix things would often hold their tongues to not say poor things about the quality of work they had to fix or the things they were witnessing. It was a race to get as many homes up and sold as fast as possible and everyone was aware of that. Several of the vendors have personally told us they have never seen such poor quality in the years they have been in their business (they referenced the amount of cutting corners they have seen the company make, and the pressure they were under to deliver under such rushed time frames). Upon living in the home for a while and discussing with other home owners what a “normal” baseline is for quality, we are very much aware that things like a soft spot in the carpet (literally a hole in the floor??) is absolutely not ok (still waiting on this to be fixed..and honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we had outstanding requests to be fixed that hit one year and if the company told us they could no longer help us). Our primary shower was not properly leveled and water would consistently pool significantly in there. We had a ticket in to fix it (after MUCH back and forth with plumbing who complained that the company didn’t listen to their recommendations about what the fix was that needed to happen), but even after days of demo and putting it all back together again, the issue is better but still remains. Our wooden bar in the primary walk in closet began to bow and the brackets were ripped right out of the wall as soon as we hung up some clothes on the rod..not even halfway filled. Why are these things so cheaply made? We brought someone else on our own to just change our close situation and install a sturdier bar and brackets for support. But now we have unpainted and unsurfaced spaces in that closet and it looks awful, but the last thing we would bother to do is to try to reach out for help because we feel it’s pointless. Our neighbor told us their garage door simply fell off because it was improperly installed..HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN. Our backyard gate door completely broke off the hinges because we noticed the screws put into the wood were so old and crappy that they literally just broke off…where on earth is the quality control? I’ve seen and heard little accountability throughout our time living here, and people who work for New Home Co have to know this, but instead I’ve witnessed through whispers and mutters and pretty blunt dismissal of those concerns of other homeowners, mocking at times and gaslighting. About a month or two ago, a worker hit a pipe under the ground and broke it leading to a fountain of water shorting up from the ground right in front of our house next to the new construction, it messed up our landscaping and were promised it was to be fixed - while I know it will eventually happen, it still is frustrating that it takes so long to get to anything and that there is so much follow up required to ensure things get done. I really couldn’t in good conscience recommend New Home Co. to anyone confidently. We are paying a LOT of money for these homes and we really don’t feel met with the appropriate level of concern, care, and quality that should have been from beginning to end. Most things we asked for or brought up received much pushback and they were a drop in the bucket in terms of solutions that could be offered..we heard so many excuses. In all honesty, we feel that this experience has been really stressful and unfortunately negative. We are aware that with any home and specifically a new home, things will come up, but we’ve also been proven consistently that money is more important to New Home Co., and that integrity is not a priority. It’s unfortunate and I do hope the company changes direction soon because we’d like to feel good about our decision to sink in so much of our finances into a home that could potentially lose value as their brand image also declines.

Communication was rough at best. The amount of pride taken to build these homes is some of the lowest I've seen in multiple different trades. When I brought up my concerns, I was met with "understanding" but the issues were mostly covered up with bandaid fixes. I am a carpenter myself, and this is by far some of the lowest quality work I've seen, and especially for a $700k house. Strongly disappointed is an understatement

We love our home and the finishes are beautiful, especially compared to other new construction that we viewed. When we first met with the sales office they were communicative and responsive. Unfortunately, once we paid our escrow all communication and the service we had received prior stopped. It even got to the point where I emailed the sales office and never got a response about our move in date. Communication from the sales office was extremely frank and in my opinion unprofessional. Received one word email responses when inquiring about the purchase of a home was very off putting and frustrating. When we showed up to our first walk thru of our home we met Branon who we are so appreciative for in this whole process, he has really been the only person in New Home Co. who was responsive in a timely manner, answered our questions, and got things done. Our only other frustration was having to do 4 “final” walk thru’s that required us to take time off work for. We would be assured things would be fixed and when we would show up they just weren’t with really no answer as to why. Overall we are so happy with our home now, but the process to get here was not great and would have us cautioning friends who wanted to move forward with New Home. We want to make sure it is noted that Branon has been great and we are very appreciative of his communication and help.
